PBA Daily Metrics: Magnolia Gets Big Lift from Chapman While Bol Bol Outshines June Mar in Dominant TNT Win

Here are the players who made the biggest impact on March 28 and the stats to prove it.

TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:

Bol Manute Bol TNT C 34 PTS | 18 REB | 1 BLK | 55.6 FPS

The former Suns big man keeps dominating the interior, posting three straight 30-point, 15-rebound games. Yet despite that elite numbers, his overall impact remains limited. He also continues to struggle both from the three-point area and at the free-throw line.

Clinton Daniel Chapman MAG PF 39 PTS | 2 3PM | 15 REB  |55.0 FPS

The replacement import immediately made his presence felt, going off for an elite double-double performance in his debut. With today’s outing, he showed that he’s a threat from anywhere on the court and should be capable of even bigger scoring performances in their next games.

Marcus Andrew Lee SMB C 30 PTS  | 14 REB | 1 STL | 50.3 FPS

Moving past a lackluster debut, Lee has locked in with consecutive double-double performances. He also showcased his offensive caliber today, shooting an incredible 12-of-16 from the field. If he keeps playing at this level, SMB will become an even bigger threat.

Tony Mitchell Jr. MBK C 22 PTS  | 14 REB | 2 BLK | 47.3 FPS

Mitchell has been a reliable double-double force throughout the conference, but he stepped up further today, recording conference highs in both points and rebounds. He may not be as dominant as the other imports, but he’s been highly efficient in scoring and is clearly more than capable of taking over when the team needs it.

Phoenix Cardena Shackelford MBK SG 19 PTS | 5 REB | 6 AST  | 45.0 FPS

Through four games in the conference, Shackelford has been nothing short of dominant, consistently piling up numbers across the board. He’s clearly operating on another level right now and should continue to be a major problem moving forward.

Jerom Lastimosa MAG PG 20 PTS  | 6 AST | 2 STL | 41.8 FPS

Despite the team’s struggles, Lastimosa has continued to show plenty of upside as a high-level contributor. He was perfect on the scoring end, knocking down all eight of his attempts from the two-point area to record his third 18-point outing in four games, while also maintaining strong production in playmaking and defense.

June Mar Fajardo SMB C 15 PTS | 20 REB | 4 AST | 38.0 FPS

The nine-time MVP continues to rule the paint, leading all players in rebounds while also securing his third consecutive double-double of the conference. He’s now averaging 18.0 rebounds per game which is the third most in the league.

Damian Chongqui MBK PG 20 PTS  | 4 REB | 10 AST | 36.8 FPS

The guard had a tough time offensively, shooting 5-for-17 from the field, including 1-for-7 from beyond the arc. But he made up for it at the line, converting 9-of-10 free-throws for his fourth consecutive game with at least 19 points. He was even more impressive as a playmaker, finishing with a game-high and conference-high in assists.

Jenning Leung MBK SG 14 PTS | 7 REB | 6 AST | 35.4 FPS

Though he finished with his least productive scoring output, his overall production remained superb. In four games this conference, he’s averaged 19.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:

Jordan Timothy Heading TNT SG 4 PTS | 1 REB | 3 AST | 9.7 FPS

Heading came off a solid 15-point outing against NLEX but turned in another disappointing performance today. He’s clearly capable of bouncing back with bigger performances, but his inconsistency has been an issue since last conference.
