Here are the players who made the biggest impact on April 8 and the stats to prove it.
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE DAY:
Robert Upshaw BWB C 25 PTS | 11 REB | 2 BLK | 46.2 FPS
Despite not having a three-point shot, Upshaw has remained a dependable scoring option with his strong play in the paint. In his first three games of the conference, he has been shooting very efficiently from two-point range while also averaging 11.3 rebounds.
Earl Michael Gilmore TGR C 21 PTS | 15 REB | 1 BLK | 42.0 FPS
The big man has been racking up points and rebounds in the tournament, averaging 26.8 points and 15.4 rebounds through five contests. However, his struggles are just as evident, as he’s averaging 5.0 turnovers and 4 fouls over that span.
Jaylen Rashawn Johnson ROS C 24 PTS | 5 REB | 1 BLK | 39.5 FPS
Johnson wasn’t as dominant today as he was early in the conference but he continues to be a force offensively, converting 7-for-8 from two to lead the team in scoring. Through four games this conference, he’s shot at 56.8% from two and 51.7% from three. The only problem is his free-throw shooting, where he’s gone 11-for-22.
June Mar Fajardo SMB C 17 PTS | 13 REB | 3 AST | 36.1 FPS
JMF was coming off an underwhelming scoring performance against Ginebra but he bounced back today, shooting 61% from two to record his fifth 15-point outing of the conference. He was even more impressive on the boards, racking up his sixth-straight game with at least 13 rebounds.
Felix Lemetti ROS PG 14 PTS | 6 REB | 3 STL | 35.2 FPS
This was the third time in four games that Lemetti reached double figures in scoring. While he was efficient from two, knocking down 6-of-7, his three-point shooting stayed cold, going 0-for-3 today and 5-for-20 in the tournament. Still, his offensive output has shown significant improvement over the previous conference.
Marcio Lassiter SMB SG 27 PTS | 3 REB | 1 STL | 35.1 FPS
Lassiter caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down seven triples to lead all players in scoring and record his best game of the conference. While he likely won’t sustain this level, he should continue to have more double-digit scoring games moving forward.
Jhonard Clarito ROS PF 16 PTS | 8 REB | 5 AST | 34.1 FPS
Clarito came up big, finishing with his third 15-point game of the conference while also recording the team’s second-best marks in both rebounding and playmaking. He’s been making his mark in multiple areas this conference and should continue to be a vital contributor in their coming games.
Joshua Eugene Munzon TGR SF 25 PTS | 4 REB | 4 AST | 33.8 FPS
Munzon was one of the league’s top scorers last conference, averaging 21.6 points across 11 games. While he can clearly deliver at an elite level offensively, his inconsistency remains a concern. Twice in his first four games, he scored just nine points. Today, he struggled with efficiency, shooting just 30% from the field, including 2-for-7 from long range. Still, he made a crucial four-point shot when it mattered most.
Adrian Clarence Nocum ROS SG 21 PTS | 5 REB | 1 BLK | 33.0 FPS
The third-year guard continues to excel on the offensive end, scoring at least 17 points for the fourth time in five games. While he hasn’t been particularly efficient, he’s been making up for it with solid production in other areas. Nocum could be in line for more performances like this as the team’s go-to scorer.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY:
Christian David BWB SF 7 PTS | 12 REB | 1 BLK | 24.4 FPS
Even though David finished with a game-high in rebounds, his struggles on the scoring end are undeniable. He shot a dismal 3-for-15 from the field, including a 1-for-6 mark from three and is now averaging just 6.0 points over his last four games.
