The Perpetual Help Lady Altas narrowly avoided a reverse sweep at the hands of the San Beda Red Lionesses, and afterward, Cyrille Almeniana emphasized that the Lady Altas cannot afford to relax at all if they want to finish the eliminations strong.
After finishing the game with 18 points, Almeniana shared with Rebanse in an exclusive interview that Perpetual shouldn’t be complacent with one more phase to go before the elimination round of the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament ends.
“Kailangan po hindi kami mag-relax kasi po may isa pa pong isang round sa elimination kaya hindi po dapat kami sumuko,” Almeniana said.

The Lady Altas have been a revelation in Group A, topping the standings and getting ahead of the defending champions, the Benilde Lady Blazers, who currently hold a record of 6 wins and 3 losses.
“Kailangan lang po namin sabi ni coach na tapang [at] puso kase may skills na daw po kami, ibigay lang po namin ‘yung best namin,” Almeniana said when asked what was said during timeouts as the Red Lionesses rallied to force a tiebreaker.
“Kailangan po hindi kami mag-relax sa mga susunod pa pong games namin,” Cyrille Almeniana further said.
With four more games remaining, Perpetual is now aiming for a twice-to-beat advantage entering the playoffs.
