The Philippine Women’s National Football Team has announced its 26-player lineup ahead of its clash with Australia on March 1 at the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup.

Hali Long Leads the Philippine Women’s Team for AFC Women’s Asian Cup

Just like the gold medal-winning squad at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, this team will be bannered by the 31-year-old Hali Long. The reliable defender for the Philippines is fresh from netting her 100th goal last December and will again be tasked to lead the team.

Sixteen members of this current squad are holdovers from the team that had a breakthrough at the 2025 SEA Games, where the Philippines secured its first-ever women’s football gold.

With the announcement, it’s clear head coach Mark Torcaso is banking on continuity and chemistry as the squad prepares for a challenging group phase in what will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Olivia McDaniel, Angela Beard Lead Holdovers

Olivia McDaniel will again headline the goalkeeping unit after her heroics in the SEA Games final. She is joined by Nina Meollo and Leah Bradley, ensuring stability and healthy competition in goal.

The defensive line features a blend of leadership and versatility, with Long, Angela Beard, Malea Cesar, Jessica Cowart, Janae DeFazio, Kaya Hawkinson, Sophia Wünsch, and Ariana Markey anchoring the back. Their mix of experience and athleticism provides depth across multiple positions.

In midfield, the Filipinas will rely on Jourdyn Curran, Sara Eggesvik, Carleigh Frilles, Jael-Marie Guy, Natalie Oca, Bella Pasion, Jaclyn Sawicki, and Ava Villapando to dictate tempo, transition play, and support both defense and attack.

Up front, the attacking corps is powered by Alexa Piño and Mallie Ramirez, who were among the leading scorers in the SEA Games. They are joined by Alex Cario, Anicka Castañeda, Katrina Guillou, Chandler McDaniel, and Paige McSwigan, forming a dynamic group capable of stretching defenses and creating scoring opportunities.

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup will take place from March 1 to March 21 at Perth Stadium in Australia.
