After dropping the opening set, the PLDT High Speed Hitters bounced back to defeat the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-19, in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil Centre on Saturday, February 14.
With the victory, the High Speed Hitters secured a spot in the qualifying round and continued to hold on to the top position in the standings. Meanwhile, the Flying Titans fell to the lower half of the table with a 3-5 win-loss record.
PLDT Caps Off Win with Furious Finish
Choco Mucho tried to mount a late rally in the fourth set, cutting PLDT’s eight-point advantage to just four, 19-23. However, Alleiah Malaluan stepped up in the closing stretch, delivering a crucial block followed by an ace to seal the victory for the High Speed Hitters.
“Actually, buong game bigay talaga namin ‘yung credit kay Choco. Wala talagang madaling game ‘pag sila kalaban. Kumpleto talaga sila, tao-tao, tas system-wise naramdaman namin ‘yung service tsaka ‘yun nga good blocking team,” said High Speed Hitters head coach Rald Ricafort.
“Nahirapan din kami nung start na talagang unstoppable si Sisi [Rondina]. In-anticipate din naman namin na ganun ‘yung mangyayari. Bigay ko rin sa players na tiyaga talaga na mag-adjust at huwag mawalan ng pasensya. So very happy na nakuha namin.”
PLDT’s Firepower, Depth on Full Display
Savi Davison led the High Speed Hitters with 19 points and 15 excellent receptions, while Kim Dy provided support with 17 points built on 12 attacks and 5 blocks. Majoy Baron added 13 points, while Malaluan finished the match with 10 markers.
Kim Fajardo orchestrated the offense with 23 excellent sets, while libero Kath Arado anchored the floor defense with 14 excellent digs.
For the Flying Titans, Sisi Rondina once again led the way with 23 points built on 20 attacks and 3 blocks, along with 14 excellent receptions and 8 excellent digs. Kat Tolentino contributed 15 points from 12 attacks and 3 blocks.
