The 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference was back to its usual two games per day schedule on Thursday with another exciting double-header at the PhilSports Arena. Here is a recap of the action:

Akari Overcomes Nxled to Get Back on Winning Track

The Akari Chargers bucked a scary injury to stalwart Michelle Cobb to rally past sister team Nxled Chameleons for a 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-18 victory.

Four Chargers scored in double-figures led by Ivy Lacsina’s 17, followed by 15 apiece from Faith Nisperos and Eli Soyud. Camille Victora chipped in 10.

Akari was still down a set when Cobb its starting setter sustained what appeared to be a neck injury in the second set as she tried to keep the ball in play. Rather than be discouraged, the Chargers fought back valiantly, with Lacsina, Nisperos, and Victoria leading the way.

Chiara Permentilla fired a game-high 20 for the Chameleons, who fought toe-to-toe with the Chargers in all the way through but just came up short. Lucille May Almonte and Lycha Ebon chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Akari won despite losing the scoring battle to Nxled, 53-48, and getting outserved, 9-6. It moved to sixth place in the standings with the win, while the Chameleons remained winless in the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Choco Mucho Upends PLDT with Furious Fight Back

Call them the comeback queens.

The Choco Mucho Flying Titans pulled off another comeback, this time overcoming a one-set deficit to upend the PLDT High Hitters, 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18. This is Choco Mucho’s second win in 2025 that came via a furious rally after the team pulled off a reverse sweep against the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles.

Sisi Rondina led the charge, firing 20 points to help the Flying Titans recover from their opening-set tumble. Veteran Dindin Manabat chipped in 16 points and made big plays in the third and fourth sets, while Isa Molde and Cherry Nunag added 12 points apiece.

PLDT got another sensational performance from Savi Davison, who delivered a game-high 27 points—including 13 in the opening set alone. But she got little support from her fellow High Speed Hitters, with Dell Palomata the only PLDT player to get close to double-digits.

The win, Choco Mucho’s fifth, pushed them to solo second in the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference with a 5-3 record. PLDT’s loss sent it to 4-3 and down to fifth.
