The PVL All-Filipino Conference returned to the PhilSports Arena on Tuesday for a crucial and explosive double-header that shook the standings up. Here is a recap:
Petro Gazz Disconnects PLDT Even After Poor Start
Bucking a horrible start, the Petro Gazz Angels found their stride just in time to upend the PLDT High Speed Hitters, 12-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-20.
Monster games from Brooke Van Sickle and Myla Pablo propelled Petro Gazz, who looked completely discombobulated in set 1 but turned it around completely in the three sets that followed. Davison topscored for the Angels with 21 points, while Pablo had a conference-high 19—including the game-winning kill.
Savi Davison unleashed 28 points for the High Speed Hitters but did not get enough support.
The 4-1 Angels next take on the unbeaten Cignal HD Spikers on December 14 at the PhilSports Arena. PLDT, who dropped to 3-2, will take a one month break before facing the Akari Chargers on January 18 in a triple-header at the PhilSports Arena.
Akari Gets Back in Win Column with Four-Set Victory Over Chery Tiggo
Not even a shaky set 1 could deter the Akari Chargers, who overcame the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in four sets, 22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-20, in Tuesday’s nightcap.
Veteran Grethcel Soltones typified Akari’s collective resolve, powering through a hand injury to score a team-high 22 points. Fifi Sharma and Ivy Lacsina also shone brightly for the Angels, adding 16 and 15, respectively. Cess Robles and Ara Galang shared team-high honors for Chery Tiggo with 14 each, while Aby Maraño chipped in 9.
Akari’s next game will be in 2025 when they take on PLDT on January 18. The Crossovers will try to bounce back on December 14 when they take on Galeries Tower Highrisers at PhilSports Arena.
PVL All-Filipino Conference Continues
Another double-header awaits the PhilSports Arena on December 12 in the continuation of the PVL All-Filipino Conference. The curtain-raiser will be Creamline Cool Smashers vs. Zus Coffee Thunderbelles, while the nightcap will be Choco Mucho Flying Titans vs. Farm Fresh Foxies.
