The Biñan Tatak Gel Beast Motorcycle GameX, featuring a roster of former PBA big names and up-and-coming MPBL stars, manages to secure a win against the 2021 MPBL champions, the Davao Occidental Tigers, 75-66, on Wednesday, August 28, in Alonte Sports Arena, Biñan, Laguna.

Key Performances: Raymundo and Pingris Shine for Biñan

John “Pamboy” Raymundo came up big in a close matchup by dropping 21 huge points, including five made shots from beyond the three-point line. The 35-year-old point guard also did a little bit of everything – putting up 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals to go along with his hot shooting hand.

With the same fire, energy, hustle, and vigor in his prime, 42-year-old Marc Pingris still anchored the defensive end of the floor for Biñan. The Pinoy Sakuragi had a solid night as he posted 10 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks in 22 minutes of play. Biñan had full control of the game and even led by as much as 13 points in the second half until the Tigers managed to keep up with Biñan to close the gap. Eventually, Raymundo’s threes and Biñan outrebounding Davao, 53-37, were the key factors for the team’s win. Biñan is already on a hot streak, winning their 5th straight win. Unfortunately, they are still not in the playoff picture as the 9th seed this season. Davao Occidental, on the other hand, had a well-balanced offensive strategy with four players scoring double digits. However, their efforts still weren’t enough for a blazing Pamboy Raymundo.

Other Notable MPBL Results

Meanwhile, the 2022 MPBL champs, Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards still secure their 3rd spot in the league after defeating Batangas City Tanduay Rum Masters, 68-58. The Parañaque Patriots also gave Negros Muscovados a tough beating after a blowout win, 110-83. Negros had no answer for Joshua Gallano’s double-double (19 points and 10 rebounds) and a triple-double output from John Uduba (10 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists).
