Rebanse NBA Weekly Rankings: Thunder Stay on Top, Grizzlies Make a Move, Celtics Looking to Get Back Their Groove

The 2024–25 NBA season is entering the NBA All-Star break over the weekend, and the Oklahoma City Thunder appears to have a lock on that No. 1 spot heading into it. But, elsewhere, there’s been a lot of movement, with two former champs making their move up the standings. 

With that in mind, here are the Rebanse NBA Weekly Rankings covering the week from February 3 to February 9.

(Note: Standings are up to February 9 only.) 

1.  Oklahoma City Thunder (42-9)

Thunder actually improved their point differential from +12.3 to an unfathomable +13.

2.  Memphis Grizzlies (35-17)

Grizz doing all the winning with Ja Morant in and out of the lineup.

3.  Cleveland Cavaliers (42-10)

Cavs still +10.3 but looking vulnerable a times.

4.  Los Angeles Lakers (31-19)

LeBron in takeover mode for the red-hot Lakers.

5.  Boston Celtics (37-16)

Three-point shooting down to 36.9% as defending champs looking… average at times.

6.  Denver Nuggets (34-19)

Nuggets the lone team making 50% of all their shots so far.

7.  Indiana Pacers (29-22)

Pacers doing just enough to get wins.

8.  New York Knicks (34-18)

Knicks taking care of the ball (11.9 TOPG) and shooting well (49.3% FG)—both third-best in NBA.

9.  Minnesota Timberwolves (30-23)

Anthony Edwards averaging 33.8 points in Wolves’ recent 8-2 stretch.

10.  Los Angeles Clippers (29-23)

Clips’ defense looking shaky lately.

11.  Houston Rockets (32-20)

Six straight losses have the Rockets tumbling. 

12.  Portland Trail Blazers (23-30)

Blazers getting contributions from nearly everyone in hot stretch.

13.  Detroit Pistons (26-26)

Malik Beasley with 48 treys in last 10 games.

14.  Phoenix Suns (26-26)

Suns setting again with Kevin Durant out with an injury.

15.  Milwaukee Bucks (27-23)

Bucks in a world of hurt as Giannis Antetokounmpo is out until after the All-Star break 

16.  Dallas Mavericks (28-25)

Dominant Anthony Davis debut in win gives Mavs hope. 

17.  Golden State Warriors (26-26)

Jimmy Butler looked good in his own Dubs debut.

18.  Sacramento Kings (26-26)

The Beam not being lit as much now in Sacramento. 

19.  Atlanta Hawks (25-28)

All-Star snub Trae Young still playing at an All-World level.

20.  Miami Heat (25-25)

With Jimmy Butler drama over, Heat looking to move forward now.

21.  San Antonio Spurs (22-28)

Spurs still blowing hot and cold, but win versus Bucks a statement.

22.  Orlando Magic (26-28)

Stingy defense can’t compensate for Magic’s offensive struggles

23.  Chicago Bulls (22-31)

Good offense can’t compensate for bad defense.

24.  Philadelphia 76ers (20-31)

Sixers can’t find consistency with stars in and out of the lineup.

25.  Toronto Raptors (16-36)

Raptors competing, which is a good thing.

26.  Brooklyn Nets (18-34)

Rag-tag Nets squad not folding all in just yet.

27.  Charlotte Hornets (13-36)

Razor-thin win over the Spurs keeps Hornets from another winless week. 

28.  Utah Jazz (12-39)

All that young talent going to waste in Utah.

29.  New Orleans Pelicans (12-40)

Eight straight loses and counting.

30.  Washington Wizards (9-43)

Wizards on track to tie sixth-worst 82-game losing season in NBA history.
