Parañaque, PHILIPPINES – The Quezon Huskers and the South Cotabato Warriors faced each other at the Olivarez College Gymnasium during the regular season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) season 6, which featured the latter team beating the No.1 club in the South, 93-86.

The matchup looked like a potential South division playoff clash, however, it was the Warriors who came out on top, thanks to Jammer Jamito’s fourth double-double of the season. The 34-year-old big man finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds and was named the best player of the game. Mark Cruz and Val Acuna, who posted 18 and 12, took up the offensive load as well.

On the other hand, Judel Ric Fuentes recorded 22 points for Quezon.

The Huskers still keep the No.1 seed in the south despite the loss while the Warriors are locked as the No.6 seed and will face the star-studded roster of Biñan in the first round of the playoffs.

Quezon City Survives Elimination for Now After A Blowout Win Over Bicol

The Quezon City TODA Aksyon is tied with the Rizal Coolers in the standings, 14-13. But, with their victory against the Bicolandia Dragons, QC gets to keep their playoff hopes alive after improving to 14-13.

Abdul Sawat, who is just averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds per game, gave it his all against the Bicolanos, as he ended the game with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals in just 14 minutes of play. Up-and-coming star Rhinwill Yambing also helped with 13 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds.

Despite Lord Hower Casajeros playing through the whole game and finishing with 21 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds, the Capitals were just too much for the Dragons.

QC is still in playoff contention. However, that will change once Rizal beats Marikina on October 1st. If they are still tied at 15-13, Rizal will take the No.8 spot due to the point system, wherein Rizal defeated Quezon City earlier in the season.

The Scores:

  • Quezon City TODA Aksyon vs. Bicolandia Dragons (108-88)
  • South Cotabato Warriors vs. Quezon Huskers (93-86)
  • Abra Weavers vs. Parañaque Patriots (84-80)
