Typhoon Pablo is back.
For a while, Petro Gazz Angels veteran Myla Pablo looked lost, riding the bench and waiting for her turn to show her wares. She got that opportunity in the Angels’ win over the Farm Fresh Foxies, and since then she has only gotten better. Now, from looking lost on the bench, the 31-year-old stunner has been named the fifth Player of the Week for this PVL All-Filipino Conference.
(Previous Players of the Week: Ivy Lacsina – Akari Chargers | Jovelyn Gonzaga – Zus Coffee Thunderbelles | Trisha Tubu – Farm Fresh Foxies | Jema Galanza – Creamline Cool Smashers)
Whipping Up a Storm for Petro Gazz
Pablo whipped up a storm this week for Petro Gazz, exploding for 19 points built on 17 attacks and 2 blocks in the Angels’ 12-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 triumph over the PLDT High Speed Hitters last Tuesday. She followed it up with a 15-point effort on Saturday to help Petro Gazz deal with the Cignal HD Spikers their first loss of the conference via a stunning 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 sweep.
Not coincidentally, Pablo’s hot streak coincides with her being reinserted into the Petro Gazz starting lineup against Farm Fresh—or right after the Angels got smothered by defending champs Creamline Cool Smashers via sweep. Now, it looks like she has that starting six spots all but locked up as she has helped Petro Gazz to the top spot of the PVL All-Filipino Conference standings at 5-1.
Pablo on Rediscovering Confidence, Playing Her Role
Pablo credits her remarkable resurgence to the support she is getting from her Petro Gazz teammates and coaches and says she is only doing what she can to help the team.
That confidence is looking sky-high now for Pablo, indeed.
