When I turned in my RSVP to cover the Daily Fantasy x NBA partnership launch, my first thought was I’d need to dust off my long-sleeves and coat. My second thought was I better come hungry because there’ll be good food served buffet-style.
I ended up wearing something a little more casual, though I did come hungry, in part because of the heavy traffic. Both turned out to be good choices.
The Daily Fantasy x NBA launch wasn’t the formal event I thought it would be. It was more of a party, a celebration of what’s very likely a fruitful partnership for many years. It was hip, it was cool, it was fun. And I certainly had a blast.

Lots to Do, Lots to Eat, Lots to Drink
I especially loved that there was plenty to do other than watching—and, on my end, covering—the partnership’s actual launch. There were game booths, for instance, though I didn’t win any due to my poor aim. There was an NBA-themed photobooth as well, but I didn’t bother anymore to get in line (I just took selfies).
A big reason I didn’t line up or play as much was because I found myself wandering four times into the cocktail booth and x number of times in the food stalls. It was no buffet-style feast, but the Filipino food on offer—was more than enough to satiate my rumbling tummy. As for the cocktails, they were free, so I just had to try them out (not all but four in three hours).
The actual launch was simple but dynamic and energetic, spiced up by some dance performances and a very enthusiastic host whose name escapes me. But he was rumbling like Triple H, asking the assembled crowd at the start, “Are you ready?” and keeping the energy up.

Dynamic, Free-Flowing, Full of Energy
RAC Marketing Director Jennifer Bautista, Daily Fantasy Marketing Manager Colwin Tanhehco, and NBA Head of International Gaming and Data Distribution Kuljeet Sindhar all spoke about the partnership and what it means. But each kept the mic time to a few minutes only, keeping the program’s free-flowing, dynamic tenor.
So, yes, it was a launch of a very important partnership. But it was also a party, a celebration. It also offered lots of freebies—keychains, a duffel bag, an NBA notebook, and more.
To put it simply, the NBA x Daily Fantasy partnership launch was great. And yes, I had a blast!
