According to veteran sports insider Snow Badua, the sale of Terrafirma Dyip’s franchise is reportedly already finished while the Northport Batang Pier is now open to bidding.
Dyip for Zamboanga Valientes; Northport has 3 Serious Suitors
In the post of Snow Badua in his facebook page, he mentioned that the Dyip is “reserved” for the team of Zamboanga Valientes who had been competing in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League for the past years.
Since the start of 2025, it was first reported that the Starhorse Shipping Lines which is a team based in Basilan Province from Mindanao showed their formal interest in purchasing the previously owned Manny Pacquiao franchise. But the sale negotiations toned down as days passed by.
Then in April, it was the Zamboanga Valientes who were entertained next by the Philippine Basketball Association in their mission to not only acquire the 10 year old team but also make it into the 1st ever basketball league created in Asia.
On the other hand, Northport Batang Pier is reportedly “now open for bidding” and its suitors are: Strong Group Athletics and ChickyFam, Viva Premiere (Starhorse Basilan) and Macau Black Bears.
The reports of SGA entering the PBA was first released months ago this was after assistant head coaches from Converge FiberXers, Charles Tiu and Rajko Toroman had a mutual and resignation from the team.
Viva Premiere is a business owned and connected to Starhorse Basilan franchise. After their failed purchase for Terrafirma, this move from them shows they are indeed serious in wanting to be part of the PBA.
While Macau Black Bears have scheduled a tune-up game against Gilas Pilipinas not only to prepare the national team in competing for the FIBA Asia Cup come August but also to show their eagerness in purchasing a franchise.
Whatever the result may turn out to be, these new teams will certainly give a new excitement for basketball fans come the 50th season of the PBA in October.
