Four-division boxing champion and one-time Manny Pacquiao opponent Adrien Broner appears to be in a downward spiral, finding himself in trouble time and time again. Most recently, a visibly intoxicated Broner was caught on video trying to leave a restaurant without paying the bill, which reportedly was worth $2,200.
A rambling Broner, at one point, can be heard telling the restaurant manager that “you’ll get your money tomorrow.” The 35-year-old later pulled out some crumpled cash from his pockets, placed it on the counter, and said, “This is all I can give… That’s all I can.”
The video took an even sharper turn later on, with Broner telling the restaurant staff and the responding officers: “I ain’t fucked up, my life fucked up. That’s what I’m saying, I don’t do this, bruh… Alright, just take me to jail. He really called the Narcs, bruh.”
Intoxication and More: Adrien Broner and His Troubled Life Outside Boxing
Adrien Broner, of course, is no stranger to being inebriated in public. Back in 2017, for instance, he was arrested in Kentucky for public intoxication. He was also cited in 2021 for a parole violation for not enrolling in an alcohol treatment program. Then, just recently, a purportedly drunk Broner was kicked out of the “It Is What It Is” podcast after repeatedly directing inappropriate comments to female co-hosts Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson and Arabia Tillery.
Broner’s battle with the bottle, though, is just one of his many issues. He’s also had issues with domestic violence, misdemeanors, sexual battery, and physical abuse. These have led to multiple arrests and jail time—including 10 days in an Ohio county jail in 2016, three days in a Kentucky facility in 2017, and seven days in a Cleveland penitentiary for a parole violation.
The charismatic boxer from Cincinnati, Ohio, has also publicly acknowledged in 2022 that he has mental health issues—so much so that he had to withdraw from a scheduled fight with Omar Figueroa. Some of his previous posts on social media potentially hint at suicidal tendencies, too, illustrating the depth of the problems the artist known as “The Problem” is dealing with on a day-to-day basis.
Adrien Broner, who hasn’t officially retired from boxing, is 35-5-1. He last saw action on June 7, 2024, when he beat unheralded Blair Cobbs via majority nod. He has won major titles at super featherweight (130), lightweight (135), super lightweight (140), and welterweight (147).
