National University Lady Bulldogs opposite spiker Alyssa Solomon returned to the court as her team locked the first spot in the standings in the ongoing UAAP Season 87 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
After missing two games due to a minor left ankle sprain she sustained in training, Solomon delivered 11 points in the Lady Bulldogs’ 25-16, 25-15, 25-21 victory over the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles.
With Solomon recuperating on the bench, the Lady Bulldogs suffered a shocking loss against Shina Nitura and the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 23-25, 25-15, 26-28, 22-25. Fortunately, the Lady Bulldogs quickly bounced back against the University of the East Lady Red Warriors, 25-18, 25-22, 25-12.
“Siyempre, super excited na makasama sila ulit sa lalo na kanina sa game. Ayun, pinakita lang namin kung ano ‘yung pinagti-trainingan namin nung mga nakaraang araw. Very happy ako na nakabalik po,” Solomon, who is now on her last year with the team, said after their victory.
“Tulad ng sabi niyo, super nauga kami nung game kasi napansin ko na siguro napunta sa amin ‘yung pressure, e, imbis na sa kalaban. So, parang hindi namin nabaliktad ‘yung sitwasyon nung time na ‘yun. After nun, wala na, okay na, move forward na agad, then trabaho ulit.
Solomon admitted that she was still feeling something in her left ankle, and she would use the two-week Easter break to recuperate.
“Okay naman po, nakakatalon and everything na, kaso may times na sumasakit pa rin siya pero tolerable naman po. Siguro ‘yung two week na period na ‘yun, pupuliduhin talaga namin ‘yung galaw namin before facing UST, and ipapakita namin ‘yung best namin sa labang ‘yun. And ayun, very exciting,” she ended.
The Lady Bulldogs will end their eliminations against the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses on Sunday, April 27, at 5 pm.
