The Golden State Warriors’ already depleted roster took another devastating hit. Despite edging out the Dallas Mavericks in a 137–131 overtime victory on Tuesday, the Dubs will now lose the services of forward Moses Moody for the foreseeable future due to a gruesome knee injury.
Moody led the Warriors’ offense with 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists before going down with a noncontact injury after attempting a dunk in a two-on-none fast break.
“I saw his leg buckle… We don’t know what it is, but it sure looked bad. Whatever the best-case scenario is, that’s what we’re hoping for,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said postgame.
Dubs Lose Moses Moody Moving Forward
Amid the absences of superstar duo Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody has served as one of Golden State’s bucket-getters, averaging 11.6 points throughout this NBA season. The Warriors will now be without his services in the foreseeable future, as no timetable for his return has been indicated.
To make matters worse, this was also Moody’s first game back after missing the last 10 games due to a wrist injury. Prior to his absence, the 6-foot-5 wing posted double-figure scoring in his last nine appearances for the Dubs.
Without Moody, Golden State will now have to lean on the services of newly acquired big man Kristaps Porziņģis, who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds against his former team to contribute to their offense.
Cooper Flagg Shines in Mavs Loss
Despite the loss, Cooper Flagg continues to play like a Rookie of the Year candidate, pacing Dallas’ loss with 32 points, 4 rebounds, and 9 assists.
Now riding a four-game losing streak, the Mavs drop to 23–49 on the season and are set to face playoff contenders in their next three matches.
Dallas will look to snap their losing skid against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday, while the Warriors will try to adjust with their undermanned roster against the Brooklyn Nets on the same day.
