The Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League is set to make their 1st professional season this 2025 after a successful inaugural tournament.
And here are the teams revealed to join the Philippine’s Pro Basketball League for women.
New Zealand Bluefire Batangas
The 1st team to be announced in the Pro-Season of the women’s league is the New Zealand Bluefire Batangas.
This squad also participated in the inaugural season wherein they were able to reach the Semifinals stage but lost in the hands of UST Growling Tigresses since they had a twice to beat disadvantage.
They announced their official participation way back May 13, just a few days after the Game 3 of the WMPBL Finals.
With this announcement, the team will now be associated in the provincial city of Batangas.
Cavite ‘TOL Patriots
Backed up by Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino, the team is also making their 2nd appearance after joining in the inaugural season.
The announcement was made last May 29.
Based on the video uploaded by Senator Francis Tolentino in his Facebook post, the signing of player contracts may hint that this squad will feature new players come next season but will have the same level of intensity and skillset.
Similar to the NZ Bluefires, the team was able to reach the Semis but got knocked out by the Discovery Perlas who had a twice-to-beat advantage.
Christina Dimaunahan also announced that she’d be part of this team. She’s the daughter of former PBA player and Blackwater Bossing Head Coach, Aris Dimaunahan.
Pangasinan Solar Home Suns
Another returning team for the WMPBL is the Solar Home Suns which will now be associated in the province of Pangasinan.
They are now supported by Hon. Ramon V. Guico III from Pangasinan.
During their inaugural stint, Solar Home Suns had a horrible record of winning only 1 game and losing 6.
San Juan Lady Knights
The San Juan Lady Knights wish to accomplish their mission after they failed to make it to the quarterfinals last season.
They were a few points short in making it to the playoffs as the quotient system became the reason why they were eliminated.
Now supported by Usec. Janella Ejercito Estrada, the team is ready to run it all back again.
RK Hoops Quezon City
Here’s one team that will make their debut in the WMPBL. The Quezon City team backed up by RK Hoops is set to display a brand new level of women’s basketball.
Jon Caburrias has shown a sneak peak for this team’s 1st tryout in his Facebook post.
WMPBL Finalists?
Surprisingly, the two teams who reached the WMPBL Inaugural Finals have not yet announced a possibility of playing again in the professional season.
Pilipinas Aguilas won the title as they defeated the UST in winner takes all Game 3.
Also, it’s not yet formal but Discovery Perlas have posted a tryout to be part of their team last June 6.
WMPBL is set to start their Pro-Season this June after the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) gave Commissioner Haydee M. Ong the professional license last April 23 2025.
