Alex Eala is set to make her Doubles Match debut tomorrow, October 21, at the WTA 250 Guangzhou Open in China, while getting the 4th seed in the Singles tournament.

Comes Back for the Doubles Tournament with Nadiia Kichenok

It has been months since the pride of the Philippines, Alex Eala, played in a Doubles tournament.

The last time the 20-year-old Alex played in the Doubles game was in the Wimbledon Open 2025 wherein she paired up with Eva Lys back in July 3.

The pair didn’t have much success, just like what Alex did in the Singles tournament. The German and Filipina tandem got destroyed and lost in 2 sets in Round 1.

This October, though, the Guadalajara champion joined forces with Ukrainian Nadiia Kichenok to play in the Guangzhou Open.

The 33-year-old is currently ranked No. 58 in the Doubles and has 2 Doubles Titles under her belt.

Eala, who’s currently at her best Singles ranking at No. 53, is unfortunately No. 207 in the Doubles ranking.

Those were the Prague Open 2025 in Hamburg, which she paired up with Makoto Ninomiya, and the other was back in 2023 during the Osaka Japan Open, playing alongside Anna-Lena Friedsam.

The Eala-Kichenok tandem will face the duo of Qianhui Tang and Emily Appleton. The 26-year-old Chinese Tang is ranked No. 1327 in the Singles ranking but is No. 69 in the Doubles. While her 26-year-old British teammate is No. 363 in Singles and No. 78 in Doubles.

Their Round of 16 match is scheduled tomorrow, October 21 (Tuesday) at 10:00 AM.

4th Seed in the Singles Tournament

While her Doubles match will begin tomorrow, Eala has yet to determine her Singles tournament opponent as of writing this story.

But if ever she gets past her Round of 32 foe, in the Round of 16 she can either play against Anna Bondar (No. 78) or Hanyu Guo (No. 180).
