The Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga are back to square one. This after the 22-year-old wing rejected the Dubs’ latest offer of $75.2 million for three years back in the Bay. Golden State had previously offered Kuminga deals of $45 million for two years and $54 million for three years.
Apparently, the Kuminga camp does not want to sign any deal if the last year of the contract is a team option—unless the annual figure is at least $30 million. The Warriors, however, are insisting on keeping the team option, leading to the stalemate with the seventh overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft.
At the moment, there are supposedly trade offers for Kuminga, with the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings said to be interested in acquiring the athletic 6-foot-7 forward. So far, though, the Warriors have held firm and refused to trade away Kuminga. Aside from the Suns and the Kings, no other team has been mentioned as being interested in the young wing.

Jimmy Butler Reportedly Gets Involved in Kuminga Saga
Golden State’s offseason so far has been largely uneventful apart from the team’s continuing negotiations with the Warriors’ forward, who last season averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on 45.4/30.5/66.7 shooting splits in a little over 24 minutes.
In a sense, it appears that the Kuminga saga is holding the Warriors hostage as they have not been able to make moves since the end of the 2024–25 NBA season. In fact, Al Horford is reportedly just waiting for the these contract talks to end before signing with the Dubs.
With the uncertainty surrounding Kuminga and its impact on the Warriors’ ability to reload for next season, it’s unsurprising that star Jimmy Butler has reportedly reached out to the Golden State front office to ask what’s going on.
Per reports from NBA reporter Dalton Johnson, Butler has talked to the Dubs’ brass in an effort to know what their plans are given the stalled negotiations with Kuminga and the Warriors’ lack of offseason moves. Butler’s inquiry, incidentally, comes with just two weeks remaining before teams start reporting for training camp ahead of the 2025–26 NBA season.
Unfortunately for Butler and Warriors fans, it’s looking like this saga has no end in sight yet—at least as of press time.
