The defending champions advanced to the upper bracket of the MPL PH Season 16 Playoffs after getting their revenge against Team Falcons PH in the play-ins, winning 3-1.
Team Liquid PH may have stumbled against the Falcons in Week 8, dropping their match 1-2 and losing their chance at an automatic upper bracket spot. This time, however, they turned the tables—coming out strong and eliminating Team Falcons for the second-straight season.
TLPH opened the series in dominant fashion, executing their game plan flawlessly and taking a commanding 16-1 score. Kiel “Oheb” Soriano led the charge on Ruby with a clean 3-0-9 KDA performance.
In Game 2, Team Falcons struck first, but it was all Team Liquid after, securing most of the objectives and building a massive lead. Oheb once again came up big, delivering a masterful 9-0-3 KDA on Harith.
Game 3 was an intense back-and-forth battle. Team Falcons gained the momentum early with SuperMarco’s Bane picking off Oheb twice. TLPH quickly responded, but Falcons held on to a slight lead. In the final Lord fight, it was Team Liquid who secured the objective, but SuperMarco turned the game around with a decisive triple-kill, keeping his team alive. He also finished with MVP honors, posting an impressive 9-2-4 KDA.
Game 4 saw Team Liquid take the upper hand early, but a few mistakes allowed the Falcons to claw their way back into the game. In the crucial Lord fight, however, Team Liquid came out on top—securing the Lord, scoring two key kills, and ultimately closing out the match. Karltzy’s Lancelot was sharp throughout, earning him MVP honors with a solid 3-2-6 KDA.
With the win, Team Liquid PH moves on to face the reigning M-Series champion, ONIC PH. This season, Team Liquid has struggled against ONIC, holding a 1-4 record against them. Back in Season 15, they also fell to ONIC in the upper bracket with a 0-3 sweep, but they bounced back in the lower bracket to pull off a stunning 4-3 upset in the grand finals.
