San Beda’s Agjanti Miller Hints at Big Move After Title Conquest

Headed to the UAAP. That’s essentially what San Beda Red Lions star guard Agjanti Miller told reporters in the postgame interview after celebrating the Red Lions’ championship against the Letran Knights on December 13 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

Red Lions Leaving the NCAA?

After the Red Lions swept the Letrán Knights in Game 2 of the NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball finals, a statement coming from the recently named Mythical Five Fil-Am player surprised a lot of media interviewers.

Miller was asked: “So, you’re coming back [with San Beda] next year?”

His response was as telling as it was surprising: “They’re going UAAP next year.”

If that happens, it certainly would be a big move for San Beda after just winning a title. However, there’s a good chance it won’t be greenlit that easily, especially considering that the Red Lions have just been crowned as the winningest program in the history of the NCAA.

San Beda, of course, just clinched their 24th NCAA championship, with two of them courtesy of current head coach Yuri Escueta

If such a big move happens, the basketball part won’t just be the only thing affected but the entire sports program of San Beda as well.

Agjanti Miller Watches Game 2 of UP vs. La Salle

Just a day after winning the NCAA title, Agjanti Miller was seen watching Game 2 of the UAAP Finals between the UP Fighting Maroons and La Salle Green Archers. Curiously, he was seated at the La Salle side at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.

That he showed up at the MOA Arena a day after his somewhat controversial pronouncement about his and San Beda’s future could be something—a foreshadowing of things to come. But it could also be nothing. Whatever the case may be, the whole world of collegiate hoops will surely be waiting for what’s to come.
