The Nxled Chameleons leaned on veteran composure to outlast the Farm Fresh Foxies in five sets, 25-23, 13-25, 21-25, 25-15, 15-12, to open their 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference campaign.
Nxled head coach Ettore Guidetti shuffled his rotation early as he searched for the right combinations around MJ Phillips, Myla Pablo, Brooke Van Sickle, and Jules Tolentino. The adjustments paid off late, with Lyann de Guzman and Aduke Ogunsanya helping steady the Chameleons long enough to force a deciding fifth set.
Nxled Delivers in the Clutch
With the score tied at 10-all in the final frame, Van Sickle and Pablo delivered back-to-back plays to give Nxled breathing room at 13-10. A costly attack error by Trisha Tubu pushed the Chameleons to match point, 14-10, before Farm Fresh stayed alive on a Royse Tubino down-the-line hit and a Pablo attack error that cut the deficit to 12-14.
The match ended moments later when Louie Romero committed a service error, sealing Nxled’s first win of the conference.
“Well, if that’s the beginning, I mean, it was a fearsome match. Farm Fresh played, in my opinion, a very good game, considering it was the first game for everyone,” Guidetti said.
“It was pretty difficult for us to find the correct combination. But luckily, in the 4th and 5th sets, I was able to find the right ones at the right moment. So, we are happy to say that the first step is the right one,” he added.
Van Sickle led Nxled with 20 points on 18 attacks and 2 blocks, while Pablo followed with 19 points, all from attacks. Phillips chipped in 13 markers in a balanced effort.
For Farm Fresh, Tubu delivered a game-high 28 points on 25 attacks. Ces Molina finished with 14 points, while Tubino added 13.
