With her opening-round victory against Emerson Jones now in the record books, Alex Eala will look to secure her first-ever victory against Tereza Valentova in their upcoming Round of 16 clash at the 2026 WTA 250 Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open.
The 19-year-old Czech has already gotten the better of the 21-year-old Eala twice in their previous head-to-head matchups.

Their first encounter took place last year at the WTA 250 Kinoshita Group Japan Open, where Valentova delivered a dominant performance against her Filipina opponent, winning 6-1, 6-2.
Their next meeting came at the WTA 1000 Qatar Open earlier this year. Following a tightly contested opening set, the Czech teenager dominated the second set to once again eliminate the Rafa Nadal Academy graduate in the opening round.
The two-time WTA 125 champion has also made significant strides during the 2026 season, reaching three semifinals and two finals.
Although she is yet to add another trophy to her collection, Alex Eala has also demonstrated strong composure and consistency following her recent quarterfinal exit at the Toray Pan Pacific Open.
In terms of experience, the world No. 17 Filipina undoubtedly has the advantage over her opponent. But when it comes to familiarity with their matchup and each other’s strengths and weaknesses, Valentova might have the upper hand.
