NBA Daily Metrics: Collier Makes History, Kuzma Explodes for 30, Flagg’s Takeover Continues

Here are the top performers on February 4 and the stats to highlight their impact.

BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:

Isaiah Collier UTA PG 17 PTS | 22 AST | 3 STL | 63.0 FPS (vs. IND)

The sophomore guard delivered a career performance, notching a career-high in assists while also becoming the youngest player in league history to record 20+ in a game. He’s become an important piece to the team and should keep a steady role for the rest of the season.

BREAKOUT:

Collin Gillespie PHX PG 30 PTS | 8 3PM | 10 AST | 57.8 FPS (vs. POR)

The third-year guard has emerged as a key contributor for the Suns this season, averaging career-best marks with 13.5 points, 3.0 threes, 4.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. But he took his game to another level today, erupting for a new season-high in points while matching his season-high in threes.

SLEEPER:

Jordan Goodwin PHX PG 16 PTS | 10 REB | 5 STL | 46.0 FPS (vs. POR)

The veteran guard had a rough stretch last month, scoring 7 or fewer points ten times. But he’s starting to find his rhythm again in his last three games, averaging 15 points while also making a big impact on defense, posting 3.3 steals per game in that span.

ELITE ASSET:

Cooper Flagg DAL SF 36 PTS | 9 REB | 6 AST | 60.8 FPS (vs. BOS)

The super rookie has been nothing short of dominant lately, averaging close to 40 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists over his last three games. Since the Mavericks are still missing key players and also lacking reliable contributors, Flagg should continue to shoulder a significant workload.

CATEGORY SPECIALIST:

Day’Ron Sharpe BKN C 19 PTS | 14 REB | 3 STL | 51.3 FPS (vs. LAL)

Despite the inconsistent minutes, Sharpe has remained a reliable defensive contributor. Over his last seven games, he’s averaged 9.1 rebounds and recorded solid steal totals in four of them. He also continues to show all-around upside, scoring at least 14 points for the seventh time since last month while logging his fifth game with at least five assists this season.

PLAYER TO WATCH:

Payton Pritchard BOS PG 26 PTS | 4 REB | 7 AST | 39.3 FPS (vs. DAL)

Following Simons’ departure, the Celtics no longer have that much depth in the backcourt, so they’re likely to lean even more on Pritchard moving forward. While he wasn’t at his best today, he still finished with his 16th 20-point performance of the season.

STREAMER:

Kyle Kuzma MIL 31 PTS | 10 REB | 6 AST | 54.0 FPS (vs. CHI)

Kuzma has been on a strong run since Giannis was sidelined, scoring at least 16 in three straight games while also providing versatile production across the board. He took it up a notch today, posting his best scoring game and securing his fifth 10-rebound game of the season. While he’s certainly capable of performances like this, his production and role will still largely depend on what happens at the trade deadline.

FLOPPER:

Brandin Podziemski GSW SG 8 PTS | 2 REB | 2 AST | 12.4 FPS (vs. PHI)

Podz has been productive for the short-handed Warriors lately despite his struggles on offense, but he was ineffective again today and made little impact in other areas to compensate.
