Here are the top performers on March 10 and the stats to highlight their impact.
BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OKC PG 35 PTS | 9 REB | 15 AST | 74.3 FPS (vs. DEN)
SGA was completely locked in, nearly posting a triple-double while recording a career-high in assists without committing a single turnover. Offensively, he continues to operate at a different level, posting at least 30 points for the 37th time this year and scoring at least 20 points for the 126th straight game, which is tied for the most in league history.
BREAKOUT:
Jaylin Williams OKC PF 29 PTS | 12 REB | 2 BLK| 52.9 FPS (vs. DEN)
Over his last four games, the big man has been highly effective, averaging 15.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 3.8 threes. With several key players still sidelined, Williams should continue to see a large part of the rotation and keep producing for the time being.
SLEEPER:
Derrick Jones LAC SF 16 PTS | 7 REB | 3 STL | 41.4 FPS (vs. NYK)
The veteran forward came up big on both ends today, hitting 4 threes and finishing with his fourth consecutive double-digit scoring performance while also recording 5 stocks. He’s been making a solid impact lately and should continue to be an important piece of the team down the stretch.
ELITE ASSET:
Kawhi Leonard LAC SF 29 PTS | 7 REB | 8 AST | 54.4 FPS (vs. NYK)
The Clippers are not yet at full strength, so the seven-time All-Star should continue to shoulder most of the offensive load for now. He has been up to the challenge, scoring at least 20 points in 43 consecutive games, including at least 28 in each of his last four, while continuing to perform at an MVP level this season.
CATEGORY SPECIALIST:
De’Anthony Melton GSW SG 22 PTS | 7 REB | 2 STL | 40.4 FPS (vs. UTA)
Melton has been dealing with a knee issue for much of the season, but he continues to play at a high level, recording at least 20 points, 6 rebounds, and at least 3 stocks in each of his last two games. Overall, it has been a solid season for him, as he is averaging 13.0 points and 1.6 steals per game.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
Kyle Filipowski UTA C 19 PTS | 15 REB | 5 AST | 49.5 FPS (vs. GSW)
It was another solid all-around performance for Filipowski, who finished with his fourth straight 10-rebound game, his fourth straight game with multiple stocks, and his third 19-point outing in his last five games. The third-year center has already shown plenty of upside for performances like this and should continue to deliver more of them over the remainder of the season.
STREAMER:
GG Jackson II MEM PF 18 PTS | 4 REB | 4 AST | 27.8 FPS (vs. BKN)
The forward has clearly been the team’s best player since the break, averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 10 games. With most of their core players unavailable, the team will continue to rely on Jackson for the rest of the year.
FLOPPER:
Keyonte George UTA PG 15 PTS | 1 3PM | 2 AST | 17.0 FPS (vs. GSW)
George not only struggled offensively but also made little impact elsewhere. With the team clearly out of the playoffs, it’s likely that his minutes and production will decline moving forward.
