Josh Hart Shows (Again) Why He’s an Asset for Knicks, Makes Franchise History Against Pacers

83 points? Try scoring 30 points on 90% shooting! New York Knicks guard Josh Hart just had a super-efficient scoring game against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, putting him in elite company after recording 33 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists while going 12-for-13 from the field (92.3%) and going a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond.

With that stat line, Hart joined NBA legends Walt Bellamy, Willis Reed, and Bernard King as the only players in Knicks franchise history to record 30+ points on 90% or better shooting.

Why Josh Hart’s New Feat Is So Impressive

What makes Josh Hart’s historic outing against the Pacers all the more impressive is that he did it without forcing anything. The 31-year-old did the dirty work with efficiency. He was cutting to the basket, running in transition, and always found a way to be open. His 5 assists and 7 rebounds made his all-around night better.

Unlike the scorers of today’s game who need to chuck 20 or more shots just to get to 30 points, Hart got his 30-piece in just 13 attempts while only missing once.

This achievement is rare, and only a handful of NBA stars have been able to accomplish it. He’s the only Knick in the modern era to put up this stat line and the only guard in franchise history.

Josh Hart Is Still Underrated

Despite all of the evidence that shows Hart is such a tremendous asset for the Knicks, most of the time, he gets overlooked. For a championship-caliber team, Hart still goes under the radar, probably because of his more heralded teammates, loke former fellow Villanova Wildcats Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns.

In his fourth year as a Knick, Hart is averaging “only” 12.2 points and 5.1 assists per game, but his biggest impact for New York is not his scoring, but his defense and rebounding. For a 6-foot-5 guard, Hart is grabbing 7.6 rebounds a night, more than what centers like Wendell Carter Jr. and Nic Claxton are averaging this season. He’s also a pesky defender, as he averages 1.1 steals per game.

Right now, Hart is only the fifth-highest-paid player on the Knicks. Before the 2025-26 season started, ESPN had Josh Hart No. 92 in its top 100 players list heading into the season, which some fans believe is too low.
