Here are the top performers on April 1 and stats to highlight their impact.
BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Luka Doncic LAL PG 42 PTS | 5 REB | 12 AST | 72.0 FPS (vs. CLE)
In his return from a one-game suspension, Luka continued his scoring dominance, posting at least 30 points for the 13th consecutive outing. In doing so, he became the third-youngest player in league history to reach 15,000 career points. He was even more impressive over his last three games, reaching the 40-point mark while maintaining excellent shooting percentages. While efficiency hasn’t always been his strong suit, it will be crucial as he attempts to solidify his MVP case towards the end of the season.
BREAKOUT:
Ryan Rollins MIL PG 24 PTS | 7 REB | 9 AST | 45.9 FPS (vs. ORL)
Rollins was back in the lineup after missing the previous game with a hip issue and delivered his 27th game this season scoring at least 20 points on efficient shooting. He was also impactful in other areas and came very close to a triple-double. Given the team’s situation, Rollins may not play many games down the stretch, but he should remain highly productive when available.
SLEEPER:
Brook Lopez LAC C 18 PTS | 7 REB | 3 BLK | 37.4 FPS (vs. POR)
Over his last five games, Lopez has been highly productive, averaging 15.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 2.8 blocks and 2.6 threes. He’s been their most reliable frontcourt option this season and should continue to have plenty of opportunities to produce.
ELITE ASSET:
Kevin Durant HOU PF 27 PTS | 6 REB | 8 AST | 50.2 FPS (vs. NYK)
The superstar forward has been on an offensive tear lately, scoring at least 25 points in six of his last seven games. He’s also elevated his playmaking, averaging 8.0 assists over his last four outings. He currently ranks fourth in the league in total points and 37th in assists this season.
CATEGORY SPECIALIST:
Myles Turner MIL C 10 PTS | 8 REB | 4 BLK | 36.6 FPS (vs. DAL)
Turner has dealt with several injuries lately and has only played twice in his last four games, but he was superb in both outings, delivering his signature two-way impact. It’s been a very underwhelming season for him with the Bucks, but he should still be able to close the regular season on a strong note.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
Tari Eason HOU PF 17 PTS | 8 REB | 2 STL | 40.1 FPS (vs. NYK)
For most of the month, Eason’s numbers have been relatively modest but he’s starting to turn it up, posting at least 15 points and 7 rebounds in each of his last three games. This is an important development for both him and the team, as he should continue to be a vital piece of their campaign in the postseason.
STREAMER:
Toumani Camara POR SF 17 PTS | 7 REB | 2 STL | 33.4 FPS (vs. LAC)
Earlier this week, Camara caught fire from distance, knocking down 9-of-11 threes for his best scoring game of the season. He slowed down briefly but has turned it back up over his last two games, averaging 20.0 points and 3.5 threes while also making his presence felt defensively with 7 rebounds and 3 stocks in each contest.
FLOPPER:
James Harden CLE SG 17 PTS | 3 AST | 3 TO | 18.5 FPS (vs. LAL)
While Harden had failed to reach the 20-point mark in each of his previous three games, he remained excellent with his contributions in the rebounds and assists categories, highlighted by consecutive 14-assist outputs. However, his production completely dropped off today in what could be his worst game of the season. Despite that, Harden has been a strong starter for the Cavs, and performances like this have not been common for him this year.
