Here are the top performers on April 2 and the stats to highlight their impact.
BEST PLAYER OF THE DAY:
Victor Wembanyama SAS C 41 PTS | 18 REB | 3 BLK | 76.1 FPS (vs. GSW)
The Spurs’ superstar has been dominating throughout the year but has found a new gear lately, posting back-to-back 40-point games with double-digit rebounds and becoming the first player in franchise history to do so. In both contests, he was highly efficient, maintaining stellar shooting percentages while committing just two turnovers. Given his caliber, he should continue to deliver strong performances over the final stretch of the season.
BREAKOUT:
Paul George PHI SF 39 PTS | 5 REB | 6 AST | 63.0 FPS (vs. WAS)
The nine-time All-Star has been excellent since his return, contributing in many areas while remaining a major force on offense. But he absolutely went off today, converting 15-of-22 from the field and recording his most points as a Sixer. With the way he’s been playing, he appears to be in his best condition and fully ready for the postseason.
SLEEPER:
Pat Spencer GSW PG 14 PTS | 8 REB | 7 AST | 35.1 FPS (vs. SAS)
Many rotational players were out for the Warriors today, giving Spencer a much larger role. While he couldn’t elevate his game further due to his struggles on offense, he still remained productive. Over his last three games, he’s averaged 11.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.3 steals. That trend, however, should continue over the final games, and he should be able to take full advantage.
ELITE ASSET:
Tyrese Maxey PHI PG 28 PTS | 9 AST | 1 STL | 44.9 FPS (vs.WAS)
Since his return from injury, Maxey has continued to produce at an elite level, recording 20+ points and 8+ assists in every game. Despite missing some time, he remains one of the top players in the league, ranking sixth in total points, fourth in steals, 13th in assists and 12th in three-pointers. This has truly been a special year for him, and he should continue to have similar performances over the final few games of the season.
CATEGORY SPECIALIST:
Brice Sensabaugh UTA SF 28 PTS | 6 REB | 4 AST | 43.2 FPS (vs. DEN)
Sensabaugh was on fire, shooting 60% from the field and knocking down six threes for his 22nd 20-point outing of the year. In recent weeks, the guard has really proven his caliber, not just as an offensive player but also in other areas, and should be able to close out the season at a high level.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
Ousmane Dieng MIL C 36 PTS | 7 REB | 10 AST | 57.4 FPS (vs. HOU)
The big man has been playing well since joining the Bucks, but he took things up another notch today, recording career highs in scoring and assists. Dieng should continue to handle a significant role for the team in its remaining games and should be able to keep the momentum rolling.
STREAMER:
Kobe Brown IND PF 17 PTS | 8 REB | 6 AST | 33.6 FPS (vs. CHI)
Brown has taken on a much bigger role in the rotation in his last three games and made the most of it, averaging 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.7 stocks. He should be able to maintain this production in the team’s remaining games.
FLOPPER:
De’Aaron Fox SAS PG 11 PTS | 4 REB | 4 AST | 26.8 FPS (vs. GSW)
Fox’s production has been really underwhelming recently, finishing with fewer than 15 points in each of his last five games while also struggling to make a significant overall impact. Despite his recent slump, his caliber as an elite offensive force remains clear.
