The Philadelphia 76ers once again get the short end of the stick after choking against the Miami Heat on Tuesday, November 19.
Philly led by as much as 19 points in the second quarter and looked like they already had control of the pace with Joel Embiid and Paul George on the court.
However, Miami turned things around in the third period after making a huge comeback behind Tyler Herro’s 16 points in the third quarter alone.
Eventually, the Heat erased the huge deficit and rallied to take the dub at home, 106-89. It’s also worth noting that Miami won 4 of the last 6 battles against Philadelphia.
The returning Jimmy Butler didn’t disappoint as he lit the Miami crowd with an efficient double-double. Butler finished with 30 points, including a perfect trip to the charity stripes (13-for-13) on top 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Despite his 4-game absence due to injuries, Jimmy Buckets still managed to put up an efficient and fantastic night.
The hero of the second half, Tyler Herro, recorded 18 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds.
The Miami Heat’s dominance over Philadelphia (53-42) on the boards was evident, thanks to Bam Adebayo’s 13 rebounds.
On the other hand, rookie Jared McCain continues to be productive with Tyrese Maxey on the sidelines. McCain (20 points) outscored both Paul George (18) and Joel Embiid (11).
Fans Still Not Happy With Embiid
The 2023 MVP has been underwhelming, to say the least. Aside from his controversial take on refusing to play back-to-backs, Embiid’s performance this season is also subject to scrutiny from the fans. After missing 7 of the last 11 games, he already looks far from his MVP form. Through 3 games, JoJo is only averaging 14.7 points, 4.0 assists, and 6.3 rebounds on an awful 32.4% field goal percentage.
With his terrible start, added to Maxey’s hamstring injury, the Sixers (2-11) continue to struggle in the East.
The 76ers will make a quick stop in Memphis to go against the Grizzlies on November 21 before returning back home on Saturday to face the Brooklyn Nets.
