The Nxled Chameleons made it back-to-back victories in the 2026 PVL On Tour after sweeping the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20, on Saturday at the Polomolok Gymnasium in South Cotabato.
The Chameleons survived a pair of tightly contested opening sets before pulling away late in the third to improve to 2-1 in the preseason tournament.
Nxled Fends Off Tough Challenge
After edging out Galeries Tower in the first two frames, Nxled found itself in another close battle in the third when Jean Asis denied Jovelyn Fernandez at the net to trim the lead to 17-16.
Fernandez quickly responded with a kill through the block, sparking a pivotal 5-0 run that stretched the Chameleons’ advantage to 22-16.
The Highrisers threatened one last time behind Julia Coronel and Jade Gentapa, who fueled a 3-0 run to cut the deficit to three. Aduke Ogunsanya stopped the rally with a timely attack before Gentapa committed an attack error, bringing Nxled to match point.
Gentapa delayed the inevitable with a down-the-line hit, but Myla Pablo delivered the match-clinching attack to complete the sweep in one hour and 38 minutes.
“I think we played a good game altogether. The players showed their real value, and against teams like Galeries, which have a very good serve and a very good block, we knew we had to fight,” said Nxled head coach Ettore Guidetti.
“We’re simply trying to eliminate the little mistakes and improve our coverage, and I think we played really well.”
Pablo led Nxled with 14 points, while Chiara Cariño and MJ Phillips added 9 points apiece.
Setter Gel Cayuna continued to find her rhythm with the Chameleons, finishing with 16 excellent sets and 4 points, while rookie libero Irah Jaboneta anchored the defense with 12 excellent receptions and 6 excellent digs.
What’s Next
Nxled, the only team scheduled to play four matches in the PVL On Tour, wraps up its preseason campaign against Farm Fresh on August 15 in Lanao del Norte.
Galeries Tower dropped to 1-1 despite a strong all-around performance from Erika Deloria, who tallied 13 points, 16 excellent receptions, and 7 excellent digs. Jean Asis chipped in 11 points, while Coronel orchestrated the offense with 19 excellent sets to go along with 2 points.
The Highrisers will conclude their preseason schedule against Creamline on August 22 in Victorias, Negros Occidental.
