UAAP Season 88 Women’s Volleyball: Empty Archers’ Stance Hints at Possible La Salle Title Defense Run—or Does It?

The La Salle Lady Spikers may have just completed a perfect championship run, but the biggest revelation after their title celebration may have been what did not happen during the traditional Archers’ Stance.

Following La Salle’s 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 victory over the NU Lady Bulldogs to clinch the UAAP Season 88 Women’s Volleyball Tournament crown, none of the Lady Spikers’ seniors stepped into the middle of the iconic Archers’ Stance tradition—a gesture typically reserved for graduating players.

Instead, the center remained empty.

That moment quickly fueled speculation that key veterans Angel Canino, Shevana Laput, Amie Provido, and Lyka De Leon could still return for another title run.

Nothing Definitive Yet for La Salle Even After Archers’ Stance

However, La Salle fans can’t get too excited just yet because, apparently, nothing is actually set in stone. Angel Canino confirmed as much, telling reporters that the seniors have yet to finalize their decisions regarding their futures.

“Kaming lahat undecided pa talaga—that’s why walang pumunta sa gitna,” said the former Rookie‑MVP. “Bilin din talaga ni Coach Ramil na walang pupunta sa gitna kasi wala pa po talagang mag‑graduate, but of course, speaking with the fifth year, kaming lahat undecided pa naman.”

The uncertainty surrounding the seniors did not stop them from delivering one final dominant performance together.

Shevana Laput Shines, Others Follow

Laput captured Finals MVP honors after erupting for 20 points built on 14 attacks and six blocks, while Canino produced an all‑around effort with 11 points, 10 excellent receptions, and 10 excellent digs.

Provido added 9 points highlighted by 2 aces and 2 blocks, while De Leon anchored La Salle’s floor defense with 10 excellent digs and 7 excellent receptions.

With no official departures yet from the Lady Spikers’ core, the possibility of a title‑retention campaign suddenly became even more realistic for the newly crowned champions.

Then again, only time will tell if that empty Archers’ Stance will actually mean something.
