Cla Loresco Delivers When Called for Alas Pilipinas

Cla Loresco knows opportunities can be limited in a national team loaded with talent.

That’s why the Far Eastern University standout makes it a point to stay ready whenever her number is called.

Loresco made the most of her extended minutes on Monday, contributing 4 points as Alas Pilipinas cruised past Kyrgyzstan, 25-9, 25-11, 25-17, for its second win in the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup.

The middle blocker capped her performance with the set-clinching point in the second frame, helping the Philippines maintain control throughout the one-sided victory.

“Lagi lang po talaga akong ready, at kahit kailan naman po ako tawagin ni Coach Shaq, ready na ready naman po ako,” said Loresco.

The 22-year-old entered the tournament as part of a three-player middle blocker rotation alongside Thea Gagate and Niña Ytang.

Limited Minutes, But Loresco Stays Patient

With both Gagate and Ytang playing major roles through the first two matches, Loresco had seen limited action prior to the Kyrgyzstan encounter, appearing in just one set during the team’s opening games.

Still, she remained patient and prepared, drawing from lessons learned during previous stints with the national team.

Before earning a spot on the current roster, Loresco often served in Alas Pilipinas’ training pool—experiences that helped shape her mindset and approach to competition.

“Sobrang laki po, as in super importante din po,” she said when asked about the value of her previous national team experiences.

“Kasi natutunan ko rin po kung paano magbigay ng patience sa sarili at sa performance.”

That patience paid off against Kyrgyzstan, where she contributed meaningful minutes and helped the Philippines secure a crucial bounce-back victory.

Learning from the Veterans

Beyond the court, Loresco continues to learn from the team’s veteran leaders, including Alyssa Valdez, Jovelyn Gonzaga, and Ces Molina, who have helped guide the squad’s younger members throughout the tournament.

“Lagi naman po akong humihingi ng advice sa mga Ates, at sobrang saya din po kasi nakasama ko rin po sila,” she said.

“Sobrang saya sa feeling kasi grabe ’yung binigay nilang laban para sa Pilipinas.”

As Alas Pilipinas continues its campaign, Loresco remains committed to embracing whatever role is asked of her—ready to contribute whenever the opportunity comes.
