The San Miguel Beermen are bringing in George King for the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup. The league’s winningest franchise moved quickly to secure the 32-year-old after the Blackwater Bossing released his rights, and the signing gives San Miguel a proven, high-volume scorer to anchor their championship bid in the season-ending conference.
It is King’s third PBA stint—and his numbers from the last one make clear why the Beermen wanted him badly enough to move the moment he became available.
The former University of Colorado standout and ex-Phoenix Suns player averaged 34.5 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in the 2024–25 Commissioner’s Cup. His most eye-catching performance came against Rain or Shine, where he dropped 64 points in a 139-118 Blackwater win—a number that still turns heads whenever it comes up. The 6-foot-5 King has also logged extensive experience overseas, having played in Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Taiwan’s P+League, and most recently with the Gladiators Trier in Germany.
George King Stepping into a Great Situation
Unlike in the past with Blackwater, George King is stepping into a more favorable situation as he will be playing for a that needs no introduction. Nine-time MVP June Mar Fajardo anchors the frontcourt. Cjay Perez, Jericho Cruz, and Marcio Lassiter provide the perimeter firepower. And PBA three-point king Jerrick Ahanmisi—acquired in a recent trade with the Terrafirma Dyip—adds another weapon to a roster already built for a title run.
King is the missing piece San Miguel has been looking for. The Governors’ Cup has not even tipped off yet, and the Beermen already look like the team to beat.
