The defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers began their title defense with a straight-set win against the Akari Chargers, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18, in the 2026–27 PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series at the SM Seaside Cebu Arena.
In the second set, the Chargers were trailing by nine points, 12-21, but Ivy Lacsina sparked a 7-0 run to trim the deficit to two, 19-21. Even after the Cool Smashers called for time, Lacsina continued her onslaught with Mary Rhose Dapol as they closed the gap to just one, 21-22.
However, Bea De Leon, Jema Galanza, and Lorie Bernardo closed the door on the comeback attempt as they finished the set with three straight attacks.
“Sobrang saya kasi ‘yung Creamline kasama na naman sa history ng PVL. Masaya kami kasi ‘yung Creamline nandiyan ulit, tapos nanalo pa,” said Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses after the win.
