Rebanse NBA Weekly Rankings: Early Leaders Facing Adversity as Western Conference Starts Asserting Supremacy

The 2024–25 NBA season is past the halfway mark now and zooming to All-Star Weekend. And, at this point, the top three teams in the standings appear in need of a break as all have look vulnerable lately. In fact, we just had to drop two of these three after struggling over the past week.   

On that note, we present to you the Rebanse NBA Weekly Rankings covering the week from January 20 to January 26.

(Note: Standings are up to January 26 only.)

1.  Oklahoma City Thunder (36-8)

Doing just enough but chinks showing.

2.  Houston Rockets (30-14)

Two wins over the Cavs show Rockets are legit.

3.  Cleveland Cavaliers (36-9)

Lost more games in the last two weeks than in the first three months.

4.  Memphis Grizzlies (31-15)

Prolific offense is getting better at 123.7 PPG.

5.  Boston Celtics (32-14)

Road blowout to rival Lakers ought to sting for struggling Cs.

6.  Los Angeles Clippers (26-19)

Team effort elevating a suddenly dangerous Clips team.

7.  Denver Nuggets (28-17)

Nuggets getting everybody involved on offense with league-high 31.0 APG.

8.  Los Angeles Lakers (25-18)

Dominant win over Cs highlight a winning week for LeBron and company.

9.  Indiana Pacers (25-20)

Pacers finding heroes every game.

10.  New York Knicks (30-16)

Tom Thibodeau riding his starters as usual but to good results.

11.  Milwaukee Bucks (26-18)

Giannis Antetokuonmpo playing some superlative hoops.

12.  Detroit Pistons (23-22)

Cade Cunningham, All-Star.

13.  Sacramento Kings (23-22)

Kings’ point differential now at positive under Doug Christie.

14.  Phoenix Suns (23-21)

Kevin Durant and Devin Booker carrying a heavy load.

15.  Minnesota Timberwolves (24-21)

Anthony Edwards taking charge for the Wolves.

16.  Orlando Magic (24-23)

Defense still smothering but offense is sputtering.

17.  Dallas Mavericks (24-22)

Injuries really taking toll on Mavs now.

25.  Philadelphia 76ers (17-27)

Sixers just can’t catch a break anymore.

26.  Toronto Raptors (13-32)

Three-game winning streak is reason for optimism for young Raptors.

27.  Charlotte Hornets (12-30)

Hornets keeping games close but closing out needs work.

28.  Brooklyn Nets (14-32)

Dry spell continuing for lottery-bound Nets.

29.  Utah Jazz (10-33)

Bad team.
