The Semifinals of the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference is over, and after a round-robin among the four remaining teams (Creamline, Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho, and Akari), only two remained. Find out how they secured finals seats in this recap of the action at the Smart Araneta Coliseum:
Petro Gazz Sweeps Akari, Books Finals Berth
From getting stunned by the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles in the first game of the Quarterfinals, the Petro Gazz Angels are now moving on to the Finals after overpowering the Akari Chargers 25-22, 25-20, 25-18 and sweeping their Semifinals assignments.
Myla Pablo continued her PVL resurgence this conference, leading the way for Petro Gazz with 16 markers and some superb defense. Brooke Van Sickle added 15, MJ Phillips fired 9, and Jonah Sabete chipped in 6 as every Angel fielded in contributed something for the win.
Grethcel Soltones paced the Chargers with 14 points but got little support as Ivy Lacsina was held to just 8 points and Eli Soyud limited to only 7.
Creamline Completes Semis Turnaround with Sweep of Choco Mucho
From on the brink of getting bounced, the Creamline Cool Smashers are now back in the Finals after dominating Choco Mucho Titans 25-19, 25-15, 25-15 to finish the semis at 2-1 while dropping their sister team to 0-3.
Bernadeth Pons led four Cool Smashers in double-digits with 14 points on top of 16 excellent digs. She was followed by Tots Carlos (13), Alyssa Valdez (11), and Pangs Panaga (10). Bea de Leon added 9, while Kyle Negrito chipped in 17 excellent sets.
The Creamline defense also held study, limiting Choco Mucho superstar Sisi Rondina to just 7 points—the same output as Royse Tubino. Isa Molde paced the Flying Titans with 9.
2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference: The Finals Are Set
The 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference boils down to the two best teams in the preliminaries: one-seed Creamline and two-seed Petro Gazz. They will play Game 1 of their Best-of-Three Finals on Tuesday, April 8, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Game time is at 6:30 p.m.
Before the Finals, Choco Mucho and Akari will collide for in the first game of their battle for third.
