The 2024–25 PBA Philippine Cup continued on Sunday with a big double-header at the Ynares Center, this time in Antipolo. Here’s a recap of the action:
Magnolia Blasts Terrafirma in Dominant Display
The Magnolia Hotshots dominated the Terrafirma Driy in every way imaginable on Sunday on their way to a 127-94 romp for their fifth straight win to start the 2024–25 PBA Philippine Cup.
All it took for Magnolia was a torrid second quarter, one where they went on a backbreaking 27-2 run to turn a 27-25 lead to a 54-27 cushion. The Hotshots never looked back, stretching that advantage to 65-32 at one point to stamp their class on the hapless Dyip.
Zavier Lucero led the way for Magnolia with 17 points and 9 boards even as every other Hotshot Chito Victolero fielded in scored. Paul Lee had 13, Jerrick Ahanmisi and Joseph Eriobu added 11, and James Laput fired 9. Firing 8 markers apiece were Calvin Abueva, Jerom Lastimosa, Ian Sangalang, Rome dela Rosa, and Jerrick Balanza.
Louie Sangalang’s 19 points and 12 rebounds paced the Dyip, who were nonetheless outrebounded, 66-27, and outscored in the paint by 30. Stanley Pringle and Kevin Ferrer had 17 each.

TNT Stuns San Miguel Behind Calvin Oftana’s 20-20
Calvin Oftana and Simon Enciso came up big on Sunday to power the TNT Tropang 5G to an 89-84 victory over the San Miguel Beermen for their first victory in four games in the 2024–25 PBA Philippine Cup.
After playing the Beermen to a draw, TNT started imposing its will in the second quarter, building a 44-39 lead heading intermission. The Tropang 5G then stretched that lead to 71-62 at the end of the third before holding on in the fourth.
Oftana led the charge for TNT, finishing with a massive double-double of 23 points and 21 rebounds to go along with his 6 dimes in a virtuoso effort. Rey Nambatac and Roger Pogoy had 15 and 14, respectively, while Simon Enciso added 13 on three triples. He also hit a massive trey with 49 seconds remaining to extend the TNT lead to 86-80.
CJay Perez paced San Miguel with a game-high 26 points but was just 10-for-24 overall. June Mar Fajardo added 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Juami Tiongson and Marcio Lassiter chipped in 15 and 14, respectively, for the Beermen, who fell to 3-2 in the 2024–25 PBA Philippine Cup.

The 2024–25 PBA Philippine Cup takes its customary two-day break before resuming action at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium with another double-header. The Blackwater Bossing take on the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the first game. Barangay Ginebra San Miguel face off against the NLEX Road Warriors in the second game.
