Alas Pilipinas finished in the 10th place as they ended their campaign on a high note after defeating New Zealand, 25-16, 23-25, 25-11, 25-22 in the 9th to 11th classification matches of the 2025 AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup.
Bahrain, the host of the tournament, went undefeated en route to their first championship. With the win, Bahrain qualified for the 2026 Asian Championship.
In the quarterfinals, Bahrain defeated Chinese Taipei in straight sets, 25-18, 25-22, 35-33. In the semifinals, Bahrain avoided a collapse against South Korea in a hard-fought 25-21, 25-23, 21-25, 18-25, 15-13 match.
In the finals, Bahrain defeated last year’s runners-up, Pakistan, in four sets, 23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-18. Last year’s champions, Qatar, finished third in the tournament after defeating South Korea in the battle for 3rd, 25-21, 25-20, 25-23.

Bahrain’s Mohamed Abdulkla Yaqoob won the Most Valuable Player award and was one of the Best Outside Spikers of the tournament, alongside Pakistan’s Murad Jehan.
Bahrain’s Mahmood Alfyah won the Best Setter award while Pakistan’s Musawer Khan and Qatar’s Belal Nabel Abunabot were awarded as the Best Middle Blockers.
Bahrain’s Ali Khamis won the Best Opposite Spiker award, while teammate Ayman Haroon took home the Best Libero Trophy.
What’s Next for Alas Pilipinas?
After their hard-fought campaign, Alas Pilipinas will next compete in the 2025 SEA Men’s V.League. The first leg will be held in Candon, Ilocos Sur, in the Philippines from July 9-13.
After that, Indonesia will host the second leg in the same month.
