Seven players scored in double digits for the San Miguel Beermen as they not only got revenge over the Road Warriors but also moved themselves to a tie for the second-best record in Group B with a 4-2 standing, on Sep. 11.
They were led by CJ Perez who was solid throughout the game, finishing with 24 big points. Don Trollano showed up against his former team, finishing with 16 while Jericho Cruz had 10. The Beermen also debuted their new import today in Sheldon Mac. While still feeling out his teammates and the physicality of the league, managed a respectable 16 points.
Lassiter Breaks Into Top 2 for All-Time Three-Point Leaders
It was Marcio Lassiter who stole the show, erupting for 17 points on an efficient 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. This impressive display helped Lassiter surpass Allan Caidic, widely considered the greatest shooter in Philippine basketball, for the second spot among the all-time leaders in three-pointers made. Lassiter now sits at 1243 three-pointers made, just a few threes behind the top spot held by another legend in Jimmy Alapag.
Robert Bolick led the way for NLEX with a massive game. He scored 24 points and dished out 15 assists. Mike Miranda also had a strong night, contributing 18 points on efficient shooting, while Myke Henry added 17.
Tight Contest Turns in Beermen’s Favor
The game was evenly matched at halftime, with both teams shooting the ball really well. The Road Warriors emerged from the break with a scorching start, building a quick 9-0 run to take a 66-57 lead. The Beermen, however, remained in contention, thanks in large part to the efforts of CJ Perez and June Mar Fajardo.
But it was the Beermen, who proved to be the much tougher and deeper team in the fourth. Marcio Lassiter had a quick 5 points to begin the quarter and pull them within 1. From there, it was Don Trollano and Jericho Cruz who took charge as the Beermen seized control of the game.
