After Abra Solid North chalked up their 15th win in the SportsPlus MPBL 2026 season, main man Dave Ildefonso said that he and his team are “really trying to prove that we’re the team to beat.”
With the 129-45 dismantling Abra Solid North gave to Bacolod Masskara on Monday at the One Arena Cainta in Rizal Province, Ildefonso and company sure sent their message loud and clear.
In all, six Abra players finished in double figures, with Ildefonso leading the way with his career-best 40 markers on top of 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Big man Raven Gonzales was just as spectacular, tallying 19 points, 20 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks in the blowout.
Nico Elorde added 13 points and 7 assists, while Alfred Batino chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Tucker Molina, Josh Asuncion, and John Figueroa all notched 10 points for Abra Solid North, who moved to solo first place (15-1)—a game ahead of the 14-1 San Juan Knights. The Masskara, whose 45 points are the lowest this season so far, fell to 3-18.
Abra Solid North Sets Record
Abra Solid North’s 84-point winning margin is now the most lopsided score in any professional setting in the country. The previous high was 82 points, set by Abra rival San Juan in its 146-64 demolition of the Mindoro Tamaraws on September 13, 2022. In contrast, in the PBA, the largest winning margin is only 56 points, set by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the last PBA Commissioner’s Cup when they demolished the Blackwater Bossing, 151-95.
That 84-point disparity, however, is not the largest in local basketball. The highest winning margin at any level here in the country is a whopping 172 points set way back in 2013 when the AMA Jr. Titans beat Immaculate Heart of Mary College in the Sen. Nikki Coseteng Cup. In that single game, AMA also set national records for most points scored by a team in a game (213), most points in a half (98), and most points in a single quarter (58).
Of course, for Ildefonso and his Abra Solid North teammates, all that might be beside the point. What matters is they’ve sent a message loud and clear: They’re the team to beat.
