The Adamson Lady Falcons continued their unbeaten start to the 2026 V‑League Collegiate Challenge after sweeping the UE Lady Red Warriors, 25‑18, 25‑23, 25‑16, to improve to 2‑0 and join the Arellano Lady Chiefs at the top of the standings.
Adamson had to withstand a challenge from UE in the second set before pulling away in the third. Joy Aseo and Frances Mordi helped the Lady Falcons regain control after the Lady Warriors threatened to level the match.
Aseo led Adamson with 17 points on 14 attacks, 2 blocks, and 2 aces, while Mordi contributed 11 points, 5 digs, and 9 excellent sets. Fhei Sagaysay also provided 13 excellent sets, while libero Juris Manuel added 8 digs.
“So far, so good, kasi halos lahat naman ng girls showed up. And sa two games namin, nakita ko naman how they improved. Thankful lang sa Lord on how they responded sa game, especially don sa second set; how we were able to get through,” said Adamson head coach JP Yude.
UE saw Adamson High School products Francheska Adem and Janessa Buhay lead the offense with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Bea Zamudio added 7 points.
The Lady Warriors dropped to 1‑1 and will look to bounce back against winless the San Beda Lady Red Lions on Sunday, August 30, at noon.
Benilde Bounces Back
Later in the day, the Benilde Lady Blazers also got on the board after defeating the Letran Lady Knights in four sets, 25‑19, 18‑25, 25‑21, 25‑18.
The Lady Blazers responded well after losing their opening‑day match against UE, taking control in the fourth set to close out the match in one hour and 37 minutes.
Benilde opened the final frame with a 17‑8 lead and managed to keep Letran at a distance despite a late push from the Lady Knights.
“Adjustment is kaunti lang, ikot ng tao, ganon lang. Ang habol talaga namin is exposure for all na maglaro lang,” said Benilde head coach Jerry Yee.
“Wala pa, hilaw pa; hindi pa kami masaya. Pero ganon talaga, kailangan naming maging patient,” he added.
Arianna Pua led the Lady Blazers with 19 points on 13 attacks, 3 blocks, and 3 aces, including two important hits in the fourth set. Fionna Inocentes added 7 points, while Grace Borromeo and Mhonniecka Soliven finished with 10 points apiece.
Captain Zen Basilio also contributed 13 excellent sets as Benilde earned its first victory in the post‑Zam Nolasco era.
The Lady Blazers will look to make it two straight wins when they face unbeaten Arellano University on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Letran, meanwhile, saw Judiel Nitura make her season debut and lead the team with 18 points. Rheina Merwa added 16 points as the Lady Knights fell to 0‑2.
Letran will try to end its losing streak against Adamson on Saturday, August 29, at noon.
