The Creamline Cool Smashers beat the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 27-29, 25-18, 25-19, 25-18, in the 2026–27 PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
After winning the first set, the Highrisers kept the pressure on early in the second and jumped to a 5-1 lead. Creamline answered, and a Rosemarie Vargas kill through the block gave the Cool Smashers a 9-8 lead.
The Cool Smashers pushed ahead to 16-12, then went on an 8-5 run to reach set point at 24-17. Aiza Maizo-Pontillas saved one set point for the Highrisers, but Erin Pangilinan’s block ended the set and evened the match.
Creamline Takes Over Behind Vets
From there, the Cool Smashers found their groove behind veterans Vargas, Bernadeth Pons, Michele Gumabao, and Alyssa Valdez and comfortably won the next two sets.
“We had a slow start; we had a hard time to execute where we had to deal with our basic errors, including blocking on the right side,” said Creamline’s Tots Carlos.
Carlos led the Cool Smashers with 13 points. Jema Galanza added 12 points, 12 excellent digs, and 11 receptions, while Valdez scored 10. Jia De Guzman recorded 16 excellent sets.
For the Highrisers, Erika Deloria led all scorers with 21 points, while Shola Alvarez had 11.
Creamline will next face the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles on Saturday, October 24, 6:00 p.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan. Meanwhile, Galeries Tower will try to bounce back against the Nxled Chameleons on Thursday, October 22, 1:00 p.m. at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
