The PLDT High Speed Hitters beat the Capital1 Solar Spikers, 21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21, in the 2026–27 PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
In the fourth set, the High Speed Hitters were leading by two, 20-18, when Savi Davison and Dell Palomata extended their lead with a quick 3-point run, 23-18. Bella Belen and the Solar Spikers answered with a 3-point run of their own to trim the deficit to two, 21-23.
Kianna Dy stopped the bleeding with a crosscourt kill, and Palomata blocked Belen on the next rally to close out the match.
PLDT played without head coach Rald Ricafort, who was out sick, so assistant coach Arnold Laniog ran the team from the bench.
“I feel like we all kinda came into this game knowing that we had something to come back from, and it’s more ourselves than anything,” said Davison. “So I’m glad that we pushed each other during practice this week. And going into this game, we had the right mindset. So I’m just glad we came out and played to our best.”
Davison finished with a game-high 28 points on 23 attacks, 4 blocks, and 1 ace, along with 18 excellent receptions and 10 excellent digs. Dy added 11 points.
Off the bench, Angge Alcantara tallied 15 excellent sets, while team captain Kath Arado anchored the floor defense with 27 excellent digs.
For the Solar Spikers, Belen had 23 points on 20 attacks and 3 aces, plus 19 excellent receptions and 10 excellent digs. Vanie Gandler posted 16 points and 16 excellent receptions, while Erika Santos scored 15.
Creamline Fends Off Zus Coffee
Later that day, the Creamline Cool Smashers beat the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, 25-19, 16-25, 26-24, 25-17.
In the third set, Jeanette Panaga settled it with back-to-back kill blocks on Chinnie Arroyo, giving Creamline a 2-1 set lead. Panaga stayed hot in the fourth, scoring on consecutive quick attacks as the Cool Smashers jumped to an 11-7 lead that the Thunderbelles never overcame.
“’Yun nga, naging maganda naman ‘yung response ng players namin, ‘yung situation kasi medyo hindi namin hawak. Talagang ‘yung second set, medyo naging hindi maganda ‘yung service at receive namin,” said Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses.
“Pero ‘yun nga, lagi nga naming sinasabi na kada situation kailangan meron tayong pambawi, meron tayong solution sa lahat ng nangyayari. Good naman, naka-recover kami dun sa game,” he added.
Bernadeth Pons led the Cool Smashers with 16 points and 14 excellent receptions. Panaga added 15 points on 7 attacks, 4 blocks, and 4 aces, while Tots Carlos scored 10.
Jia De Guzman distributed 17 excellent sets, and libero Kyla Atienza contributed 10 excellent digs.
For the Thunderbelles, Zam Nolasco had 16 points, while rookie Nicole Ong added 12 on 9 attacks and 3 blocks.
All four teams head to Santiago, Isabela, on Thursday, October 29. At 3:30 p.m., PLDT will try to build on its first win against ZUS Coffee, which is still looking for its first. Capital1 will then try to bounce back against Creamline at 6:00 p.m.
