The FEU Tamaraws will be traveling to the United States of America to in the Sacramento Pro-Am League in preparation for the upcoming UAAP Season 89 this September.
Announced by head coach Sean Chambers himself via his Instagram account, the men in green and gold will be playing in the tournament scheduled from July 21 to August 1.
What Is the Sacramento Pro-Am League?
Also referred to as the Sacramento Professional Development Basketball League (SPDL), this will be the second straight year FEU will be playing in the tournament.
The league is a premier summer basketball competition that brings top-tier local talent, aspiring prospects, and former and current professional NBA players together. It also allows universities and colleges both in America and abroad to face one another.
Last year, the FEU Tamaraws had a six-game schedule in six days. Though the results weren’t released to the public, numerous photos and videos showed the winningest UAAP basketball school competing at an elite level.
It was also last year that NBA veteran Kent Bazemore played against the FEU Tamaraws. The 10-year NBA vet not only faced Janrey Pasaol and his teammates but also delivered an inspirational message to the team after their very first win back in Season 88.
Opportunity for the Young Tamaraws to Grow
Cabs Cabonilas, Mark Burgos, and the rest of the FEU rookies possess tremendous potential, but these offseason tournaments will provide them with opportunities to showcase their skills and accelerate their development.
Meanwhile, reigning UAAP MVP Janrey Pasaol can also prove that he is capable of elevating his game to another level as he competes in the United States against tougher competition.
This U.S. training camp under Sean Chambers figures to help the Tamaraws mature and gain valuable experience against a different style of basketball—lessons they can apply once UAAP Season 89 gets underway.
