Amid their breakthrough 2026 Formula One campaign, Alpine Racing Limited is set to move forward with the same lineup after announcing a contract extension with Franco Colapinto.
Initially joining the Enstone‑based squad in 2025 as a reserve driver, Colapinto made his debut in the Emilia‑Romagna Grand Prix replacing Jack Doohan, where he finished 16th.
Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore expressed excitement over Colapinto’s extension and remains confident in the Argentinian driver’s ability to push for a strong finish as the season enters its latter half.
“We have seen Franco truly grow and mature into a great driver this year. His results in Miami and Montreal especially confirmed what I already knew—Franco belongs in Formula 1 and he belongs at this team,” Briatore said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Colapinto was ecstatic to stay with Alpine but underscored the long road ahead while expressing the team’s long‑term winning goals.
“I am very pleased to remain with this team in 2027. I feel very happy and very settled here, and it’s been even better that we have made significant progress this year compared to last,” Colapinto said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how everything plays out and focusing on my job on‑track first and foremost,” he added.
Alpine Continues Breakthrough Campaign
The racing duo of Colapinto and Pierre Gasly have been nothing short of surprising for Alpine and the rest of the grid this year. After a disappointing 2025 season that saw them finish 15th in the constructors’ standings with only Gasly scoring all 22 points, the team currently sits in 6th place with 61 points on the board.
This marks their highest tally since 2023, when they finished 6th with 120 points. With plenty of races still left, Alpine is poised to reach the 100‑point mark soon.
Colapinto and Alpine return to action when the grid visits the iconic Monza Circuit on Sunday, Sept. 6, at the Italian Grand Prix.
