Gilas Pilipinas will continue their third window at the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers with a showdown against the Boomers of Australia later today. It will take place at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, with tip-off at 8:30 p.m., local time. That means the game will start at 6:30 p.m. here in the Philippines.
With that out of the way, the important question now is: where and how can we watch the game?
Where and How to Watch Gilas vs. Australia
Fortunately for Filipino basketball fans, there are several ways to watch this all-important game. We count them down for you:
- Through local TV via RPTV
- Through the Pilipinas Live app of One Sports
- Through the One Sports YouTube channel (the same channel PBA games are aired live)
- Through cable TV via One Sports and One Sports
- Through the FIBA website at https://www.dazn.com/en-PH/competition/Competition:efjj10y98b8fdydorzb4ainoq (Notes: You will have to disable your VPN and subscribe.)
What’s at Stake
After winning its first five game in the qualifiers, Australia is looking to go unbeaten in the first round and pile up as many wins as possible. Gilas, on the other hand, will try to even its record at 3-3 as it heads to the second round. It will also try to break what is now a three-game losing streak dating back to the second window.
To that point, this game is much more important to the Philippines as far as the big picture—making it to the 2027 FIBA World Cup in Qatar—is concerned as coming it at 2-4 in the second round leaves the nationals little margin for error. Even so, don’t expect the Boomers to take things for granted, as they will surely look to assert their might once more.
The last time these two squads met was in the second window back in February. when the Boomers ironed out a decisive 93-66 rout of Gilas at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
