Mylene Paat‑Rezanova doesn’t know how much longer she’ll keep playing. That uncertainty has given her a clear approach to the 2026–27 PVL All-Filipino Conference: play every game as if it could be her final one.
The 32‑year‑old former league MVP, who is married to Kazakh volleyball player Sergey Rezanov, said she has reached a stage in life where settling down is on her mind.
“I will treat this conference or this season as my last playing year, kasi hindi ko alam ano pa mangyayari sa future,” said Paat‑Rezanova. “And based on myself also, na nasa edad na ako na set for settlement.”
That urgency showed on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Coming off the bench, the veteran opposite led all scorers with 14 points on 11 attacks and 3 kill blocks as Farm Fresh swept the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25‑23, 25‑22, 25‑15, to open its Siklab Series campaign.
Passing Down Experience
Beyond the numbers, Paat‑Rezanova sees her role on a young Foxies squad as passing down what she has picked up over a decade in the league. She wants to prove to her teammates that age doesn’t limit what a player can do on the court.
“I will play talaga na I will share kung ano yung mga natutunan ko in the past 10 years, kung paano lumaban inside the court. Matanda ka man o bata, kayang‑kaya mo pa rin maglaro as long as may puso ka sa paglalaro,” she said.
Fast Start Matters
This year’s All‑Filipino Conference is split into three series, so Paat‑Rezanova believes a fast start in the Siklab Series matters. For her, the Foxies’ path to the Philippine Grand Championship depends on staying consistent and piling up wins one match at a time.
“Ayun na nga, as much as possible, dapat every game lang yung iintindihin namin. But then, somehow, kailangan talaga na nasa isip din namin na kailangan mag‑ipon ng panalo, and malaking advantage yun sa amin na makapag‑ipon ng panalo, lalong‑lalo na itong first game namin na kinaya naming ipanalo ng three sets,” she said.
“By that, mas ginogoal namin na makapasok muna sa first series para, siyempre, makapasok din kami sa third series. And siguro, bawat isa sa amin, kailangan mag‑focus lang din kami para maipanalo namin every game. Sobrang importante talaga.”
Next Up for Farm Fresh, Paat‑Rezanova
Farm Fresh will next face the Nxled Chameleons on Saturday, October 17, 1:00 p.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
