The PVL is taking the action back on the road as the 2026 PVL On Tour Showdown opens on Wednesday, July 8, in Ilagan City, Isabela.
The preseason caravan will feature seven stops across the country, giving teams an opportunity to build chemistry while bringing the league closer to fans outside Metro Manila.
After the opening leg in Ilagan, the tour will make stops in Batangas on July 11, Vigan City in Ilocos Sur on July 25, Polomolok in South Cotabato on August 1, City of Santiago on August 8, and Lanao del Norte on August 15, before wrapping up on August 22 at a venue to be announced.
This year’s PVL On Tour will also add extra stakes to each matchup, with winning teams receiving ₱100,000, while losing squads will still take home ₱50,000.
PVL On Tour to Feature Rule Tweaks
The league will also implement a mandatory playing-time rule to give all players opportunities during the preseason.
Each team must field all 14 players on its roster by the end of the second set, and every player must participate in at least three rallies before the frame concludes. After the second set, coaches will have full control of their rotations, with modified substitution rules still in effect.
However, national team players currently part of an official Philippine delegation or involved in national team activities will not be allowed to participate in the PVL On Tour.
They may only suit up if they are not included in an official tournament lineup and have no scheduled national team commitments.
League Brings Back Premier Ball
Another addition to this year’s showcase is the return of the Premier Ball, the special two-point rally rule first introduced during the PVL All-Star Game.
Under the format, the serving team’s captain may activate the Premier Ball once per set, replacing the regular ball with a special-colored one. The winner of that rally will earn two points instead of one.
The Premier Ball, however, cannot be used to close out a set. It will only be available until either team reaches 22 points in the first four sets and 12 points in a deciding fifth set.
The PVL On Tour serves as the league’s preseason showcase before teams return to regular competition later this year.
