Barangay Omega picked up their first win of the season in emphatic fashion, bringing down powerhouse Team Falcons 2‑1 in Week 2 of MPL PH S18 on August 29.
Omega Catches Falcons by Surprise
Omega came out ready for the Falcons, seizing the upper hand in the early minutes of Game 1. Behind Cull’s stellar play on Melissa, Omega steadily built their lead. By the 13‑minute mark, he delivered a cold‑blooded double kill in the Lord fight, opening up a 5K gold advantage and running the kill score to a commanding 6‑1.
Omega continued to stay ahead in the succeeding minutes, eventually launching a base siege at the 18‑minute mark. With Cull’s Melissa wreaking havoc, the Barangay looked ready to put the game away. But the Falcons stood their ground and successfully repelled the assault, even taking Cull out of the equation.
However, the Falcons’ resistance only bought them time. Near the 20‑minute mark, with both squads locked in a heated Lord fight, Raizen found the perfect opening and slipped straight into the Falcons’ base. With nobody left to defend, the Omega jungler finished the job himself, delivering a stunning backdoor play to secure Game 1.
The Falcons answered back with authority in Game 2. They came out firing, storming to a 4‑0 lead within the first five minutes and continued to pile on the pressure. SuperMarco then took center stage, exploding for a four‑man wipe near the eight‑minute mark.
Shortly after, the Falcons marched toward the finish, with SuperMarco completing the demolition with a triple kill during the final push to close out Game 2 in just 11 minutes with a staggering 16‑1 kill count.
Omega’s Young Guns Rise to the Challenge
Fortunately for Omega, they regained their footing to start Game 3. They held a clear advantage through the first 10 minutes, securing every major objective and building an 8‑2 lead in kills. By the 12‑minute mark, Omega’s control was overwhelming as they stripped away two of the Falcons’ inner turrets to extend their lead to 7K gold.
Omega wasted no time putting Game 3 away. Catching Kyle isolated from his team, they immediately punished his mispositioning. While Kyle initially managed to escape, Cull tracked him down and finished the job. The Falcons retaliated by taking down Cull, but Omega instantly collapsed on the remaining members. Louis on Phoveus dealt massive damage before Raizen on Hirara applied the finishing touches as Omega wiped out four Falcons to secure the win.
The victory serves as a major bounce‑back for Omega, improving their record to 1‑1 for fifth place while handing the Falcons their first Season 18 defeat and pushing them down to third.
More importantly, the young squad put the entire league on notice, showing they can hang with the MPL’s best.
Raizen delivered in the clutch with a game‑winning play in Game 1 before sealing the series with a steady 5‑1‑6 performance in Game 3.
