Team Falcons continued to fly high, securing their third consecutive win after sweeping AP.Bren 2-0 in Week 4 of MPL PH Season 18 on September 12.
Team Falcons Strike First
The early stages of Game 1 opened with both sides playing a methodical macro game. Despite AP.Bren establishing an early lead after securing the first Turtle plus a pick on Flap, Team Falcons remained right on their heels, securing key objectives of their own.
The first major fight broke out near the eight-minute mark with Team Falcons making the first move. Catching the Bees out of position, Flap jumped in and caught both Shizou and LanceCy, allowing Kyle to quickly pick off the latter. Jamespangks, however, responded swiftly, dishing out massive damage to eliminate both Flap and Kyle and even the score. But the momentum was clearly on the Falcons’ side.
Moments later, Flap struck again. With the help of Owgwen, he caught Shizou once more, removing AP.Bren’s main damage dealer before the Falcons followed it up by taking down JMPinkman. With the numbers advantage, Team Falcons turned toward the Lord, looking to put the game firmly in their hands. LanceCy had other plans, however, finding a crucial pickoff against Kyle and delaying the objective attempt.
That play allowed Jamespangks to snatch the Lord for AP.Bren, though Team Falcons quickly shut down the push and prevented them from translating it into any advantage.
The deciding moment happened during the next Lord fight at the 13-minute mark. After Team Falcons secured the objective, they followed up with two more pickoffs. Caught out of position, Jamespangks was also punished by the Falcons, allowing them to march in and close out Game 1.
SuperMarco and Team Falcons Power Through
The Bees fired back in Game 2, seizing control during the first Turtle clash with a flawless 4-0 wipe. Jamespangks anchored the fight, cleanly taking down both Kyle and Owgwen before securing the objective for AP.Bren.
Despite a few mistakes along the way, the Bees managed to stay in front, holding a slight economic lead over the Falcons in the following minutes. But they continued to pull further ahead, reaching the 10-minute mark with a 7-3 kill advantage and nearly 4K gold lead.
The Bees were in full control at that point, claiming the first two Lords of the game, but the Falcons refused to make it easy. On the second Lord push, AP.Bren marched toward the Falcons’ base, only for Flap to find the perfect angle for a counter-push. With their own base suddenly exposed, the Bees had no choice but to abandon their advance and retreat.
Everything went down at the 16-minute Lord clash. Though Jamespangks still managed to secure the objective, the Falcons completely took over the ensuing team fight. SuperMarco went berserk in the clash, wiping out four members of AP.Bren and turning the game on its head, allowing Team Falcons to complete the comeback win and the 2-0 sweep.
Game after game, SuperMarco remained the core engine for Team Falcons. He set the tone in Game 1 with a flawless performance on Melissa, finishing with a stellar 4-0-10 line. But he saved his best for Game 2, coming up big when they needed him most and delivering the game-winning Maniac.
